EMT and Paramedic Certification

Note: The Emergency Medical Services Program requires a criminal background check with the approved vendor, proof of vaccinations/titers (Hep B, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Seasonal Flu), and annual tuberculosis screening. COVID-19 vaccination is not required but recommended for all healthcare students. More information will be discussed with the Program Coordinator at the required time for completion.

Admission Requirements

Students are required to hold current unrestricted certification as an EMT in KY or with the National Registry EMT to be eligible for paramedic program admission. A background check is required and KY/National certification.

Notes

  • Background check is required. Any issues resulting from the background check may prevent required clinical assignments. If that occurs, you will not be able to complete the course successfully. 
  • Progression in the program is contingent upon achievement of a grade C or greater in each course and maintenance of a 2.0 cumulative GPA or above (on a 4.0 scale).
  • At least 25 percent of the approved curriculum for any certificate, diploma or degree must be completed at the student’s home college.
