Society of Manufacturing Engineers

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers is a non-profit student and professional association for educating and advancing the manufacturing industry in North America.

Student Membership

At this point in your life, it’s time to focus your ambition, be goal-oriented and, most importantly, prepare for what’s ahead after you graduate. Get a head start now as an SME Student Member and make inroads in manufacturing.

REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for a student membership, an undergraduate or graduate student must:

  • Be working toward the completion of an academic credential in good standing at a technical institution, college or university pursuing degrees in manufacturing or a related field.
  • Be registered with full or part-time status based on the institution’s regulations (a minimum of six credits per semester are required to qualify for part-time status).
  • Be enrolled in either a traditional or nontraditional educational program.
  • Participating in a co-op work terms, practicum and/or thesis research terms (optional).
