My favorite part of being an advisor is seeing students through to graduation. Commencement is my favorite time of the year because I get to be in the crowd, knowing that I was able to assist at least one student at some point in their academic journey.

Academic advising is not a job for me; it is a lifelong profession. I have been in the field since 1981. I rarely feel like this is work because I have a great time listening to students, finding out about them as individuals, and supporting them. I have been doing this for an exceptionally long time, and I still get excited to be a part of each student’s journey.
I love volunteering in the community and supporting those who need it. I enjoy baking and cooking. I am an avid sports fan, played softball in high school, and love to “play” golf.

My favorite part of advising is helping students. I love being able to see hard work pay off and students meet their goals of being accepted into the Nursing program and graduating with that ADN. My favorite event is the Pinning Ceremony for recent Nursing graduates as they are pinned as nurses. I am so proud to be a part of that journey!
Outside of work, my biggest passion is my family. I am a mom to two young boys. My husband and I love spending time together as a family. I can also be found singing at random times, and I love watching a good murder mystery show!

As a first-generation college student, I understand how meaningful it is to have someone believe in you and help you navigate the challenges of higher education. My favorite part of being an advisor is watching students overcome hurdles they once thought were impossible and grow more confident in their abilities.
Every student’s journey is different, but no dream is too ambitious. I enjoy encouraging students to believe in themselves, take each challenge one step at a time, and continue working toward the future they envision.

What I enjoy most about my work is connecting with students, learning their stories, and helping them figure out what comes next. As a Gateway alum, Class of 2013, who began college as a nontraditional student after having children, I understand that the path through college is not always simple or straightforward.
Gateway was where my own educational journey began, and I love that it continues to be a warm and welcoming place where students can start, start over, or simply figure out what they want from life. I especially enjoy helping students take something that feels overwhelming and turn it into options and a path forward.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and playing with my two Huskies. I love how books can open up the world to new places, experiences, ideas, and perspectives. I enjoy collecting spoons from the places I visit and am currently pursuing my second master’s degree at NKU.

As someone who was a first-generation college student and a single parent, I understand that getting to the finish line isn’t always a straight path. I love being able to remind students that they are capable of reaching their goals.
