On November 11, Gateways Veteran Support Center is asking everyone to wear red in honor of Veterans Day (Faculty and staff who wear red may also wear jeans on this day). The color red is a symbol for the courage shown not only by our veterans in the line of duty, but also by their spouses and children making sacrifices at home. At 11:00 a.m. we ask that people on all campuses observe a moment of silence so that we might reflect on our veterans patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. At each campus we will have tables staffed by volunteers distributing ribbons and information. In addition, special sheets of paper will be available for employees and students to record what Veterans Day means to them.
We are looking for volunteers on Veterans Day to man the tables and hand out ribbons, if you are interested please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
