Sign Up For Basic Welding Boot Camps At Gateway

Gateway Community and Technical College will offer two series of Basic Welding Boot Camps this spring and summer at the colleges Center for Advanced Manufacturing at the Boone Campus in Florence. Both courses take place over seven weeks on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon.

Basic Welding Level 1 begins May 3 and ends June 23 with no classes the week of June 7. The course covers basic theory, set-up, operation and related safety instruction on Oxy-Fuel and Plasma Arc cutting, as well as SMAW (stick), GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG).

Basic Welding Level 2, offered from June 28 to Aug. 11, is open to participants who successfully complete Level 1. Level 2 covers advanced theory, operation and improvement of welding techniques and focuses on GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG).

The cost for each series is $500, and participants are responsible for their personal protective equipment, including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses and any other required equipment.
