Gateway To Host Networking Luncheon for College Providers of Veterans Services
Tim Duening, Capt. USN (retired) and director of Veterans Services for Easter Seals
Tristate, is the headliner at a Sept. 5 networking luncheon for university and college
veterans service providers at the Boone Campus of Gateway Community & Technical College.
Gateway is hosting the event on behalf of Easter Seals Tristate Operation Vets THRIVE. The event is intended to bring together the people working in higher education to provide services that help military veterans make a successful transition to civilian life.
Operation Vets THRIVE, which began locally in late 2012, focuses building community support and employment initiatives to assist veterans and their families in the tri-state region. The networking luncheon will help Operation Vets THRIVE in its effort to gain feedback on local needs and resources.
Gateway provides services to veterans through its VETS (Veterans Employment and Training Services) program. In its first year of operation, Gateway VETS enrolled more than 150 veterans in Gateway educational programs and helped more than 50 VETS find jobs, exceeding its initial goals.
The luncheon is Thursday, Sept. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room B123 at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing on the Boone Campus at 500 Technology Way. Service providers interested in attending may respond by Sept. 3 to Jenni Hammons, 859-442-1130, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Regina Schadler, 859-442-1170, email@example.com.
Gateway VETS is a service of the colleges Workforce Solutions Division.
