Gateway Offers Alcohol Service TrainingGateway Community and Technical College has begun offering alcohol service training to help the hospitality industry teach employees how to serve alcohol responsibly.
The four-hour, non-credit class will be conducted from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 24, at the colleges Boone Campus, 500 Technology Way, Florence. The cost is $90 per person, including a participant workbook.
The class highlights how to help patrons avoid overindulging, how to identify behavior clues to avoid over-serving, as well as how to offer alternatives and intervene if drinking becomes excessive. The course covers the physical properties of alcohol, its effect on the human body, prevention of sales to minors, and a review of state and local liquor laws.
