Gateway Class of 2010 is Largest in School History

Gateway Community and Technical College will confer 979 credentials, including associate degrees, diplomas and certificates, upon 874 graduates in the largest class in the colleges history. Gateways commencement exercises are today at 7 p.m. at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.

The 2010 class includes 265 students who will receive associate degrees qualifying them to transfer to complete a bachelors degree at a four-year university or move directly into jobs in healthcare, manufacturing, information technology, business, education, criminal justice, fire safety or other high-paying fields. Forty-two students will receive diplomas, and 672 others will receive one or more certificates.

Rick Hulefeld, executive director of Children, Inc., is the commencement speaker. Gateway will recognize recipients of the Student Choice Awards, given by students to outstanding faculty and staff, and local nominees for the states New Horizons award in the same category. The college also will announce the recipient of the Presidents Award, the colleges most prestigious student award, given to a student who has made a lasting contribution to the college and student life.
