What is Business Administration?

 Business Administration at Gateway Community & Technical College prepares students for a variety of careers in today's business environment. A core curriculum provides students with a strong foundation of knowledge and skills applicable to virtually any business career. Students can then customize their education by selecting a career-focused track aligned with their interests and goals.

The Business Administration program offers an Associate in Applied Science degree, diplomas, and a variety of certificates. The curriculum is designed for students seeking entry-level employment, working professionals wishing to enhance their skills, and those planning to transfer to a four-year institution.

Students also complete career development coursework designed to build professional skills, explore career opportunities, and prepare for the workplace. Eligible students may participate in a cooperative education (co-op) experience, gaining valuable hands-on experience with regional employers before graduation.

Accounting Track

The Accounting Track prepares students for careers in accounting, including bookkeeper, accounting clerk, payroll clerk, and other positions utilizing modern accounting and business technologies.

Human Resource Management Track

The Human Resource Management Track prepares students for entry-level positions in human resources and related occupations.

Management Track

The Management Track provides students with broad-based management knowledge and leadership skills that prepare them for a variety of supervisory and management positions across industries.

Sales Track

The Sales Track prepares students for careers as Sales Representatives and related sales professionals. Students develop communication, relationship management, and consultative selling skills that prepare them for professional sales careers across a variety of industries.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

Length of Program

You can earn an associate in applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.

This information should not be considered a substitute for the KCTCS Catalog. You should always choose classes in collaboration with your faculty advisor to ensure that you meet all degree requirements.

Transfer Pathways
