Career Camps 2024
All of our Summer Career Camps will be open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The deadline to apply is May 3.
Students will learn about shop safety, shop tools, lube oil & filter change, fluid checks, tire rotation, brake inspections, tire alignment, warning lights, and basic diagnostics. Students will also learn about careers in the automotive field, meet with automotive professionals to discuss job duties and education requirements, learn and apply new skills in open labs, and make new friends.
College Campus: Urban Metro TTC
Career Camp Date Choices: June 3–5, 2024 at 9am–1pm OR June 10–12, 2024 at 9am–1pm
Career Camp Capacity: 20/each week (40 total)
In this 3-day camp, students will learn about the current field of biological sciences and potential pathways available, an introduction to DNA (cloning), research in the biological sciences, and gain experience with equipment necessary to perform biological research. Students will also learn about careers in biological sciences, discuss job duties and education requirements, and make new friends.

Career Camp Date Choices: June 3–5, 2024 at 9am–1pm
Career Camp Capacity: 25
Students will delve into careers in computerized manufacturing and machining, discovering the programs offered by GCTCS for these career paths. By engaging in hands-on activities, students will grasp the role of a machinist, distinguish between traditional and additive manufacturing, and create and print a gadget. Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Apply for Computerized Manufacturing & Machining Career Camp
Students will explore the different career fields of computer information technology, and the required certifications and basic degrees offered at Gateway Community & Technical College. Through hands-on activities, students will get an introduction to the basics of programming, explore database development, investigate networks and mobile applications, and even learn about cyber security threats.

In this 3-day camp, students will learn about the current field of education and potential pathways available, reflect on their own educational experiences and how that has influenced them and their career goals, and how cognitive brain development impacts learning at each stage of development. Students will also learn about careers in education, discuss job duties and education requirements, and make new friends.

Career Camp Capacity: 20
Students will explore healthcare career opportunities, engage with professionals to understand roles and educational needs, practice new skills in simulation labs, achieve basic life support certification, and build new friendships.
College Campus: Edgewood
Career Camp Date Choices: June 3–6, 2024 at 9am–3pm OR June 10–13, 2024 at 9am–3pm
Career Camp Capacity: 30/each week (60 total)
Students will learn about manufacturing & engineering technology careers. They will experience hands-on activities with state-of-the-art manufacturing & engineering technologies. Students will explore the ways that different design systems impact the overall success of their design, will be able to look at a 2-Dimensional drawing of a truss bridge and construct a 3-Dimensional, will explore documentation of the various design project alternatives in my engineering notebook, and will create the best weight to strength ratio.

Career Camp Capacity: 12
In this 3-day camp, students will learn about the current field of welding and educational pathways available. Students will be introduced to welding concepts and skills through virtual welding, learn how to apply virtual welding concepts and practices, and test virtual welding skill theory in a real-life welding lab. Students will also learn about careers in welding, discuss job duties and education requirements, and make new friends.
