New CAM Hosts Governor Beshear
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear visited the new Center for Advanced Manufacturing at the Boone Campus June 10 to announce that seven manufacturing companies will invest more than $28.4 million in Northern Kentucky, creating 404 new jobs.
The event provided Gateway an opportunity to showcase the CAM, which was built specifically to serve the training needs of local manufacturers and which will officially open in the fall. The CAM has the capacity to train 10,000 workers serving 400 companies a year by 2015. The center is part of the toolbox that will help us ensure advanced manufacturing remains a viable, strong and growing segment in our region, said Gateway President Dr. G. Edward Hughes.
These seven new and expanding manufacturers will benefit from their proximity to the Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Governor Beshear said. The center is yet another example of the importance the Commonwealth places on advanced manufacturing and related fields.
