MAZAK Awarded $224,050 in KY WINS Funding for Gateway Training

Gateway Community & Technical College said today that Mazak Corporation has been awarded $224,050 in funds from KY WINS to provide skill upgrades for newly hired employees at its Florence manufacturing facility. Gateway will conduct the training, which is aimed at developing the new employees as CNC technicians, at its Boone Campus.

Gateway helps us sharpen our competitive edge by working with us to provide customized skill upgrades to our workforce, said Mike Vogt, vice president of human resources and general affairs at MazakUSA. We rely on Gateway to help us keep our current workforce up to date and as a source of well-trained new employees.

Workforce development is high on our list of priorities, and being able to provide access to KY WINS funding enables us to fulfill that responsibility.

Gateway provides industry partners with access to more than $1 million a year in KY WINS funds. KY WINS, the Kentucky Workforce Investment Network System, provides funding to Kentucky companies to assist with the cost of workforce training and assessment services. KY WINS funds are distributed on a project basis and require a company cash match of 35 percent.
