Its Not Too Late to Start College at Gateway This Spring

Is starting college one of your new years resolutions? You can meet that goal right away. Gateway Community & Technical College is currently accepting students to start classes Feb. 7 or March 18.

We have a 12-week semester starting Feb. 7 for anyone who wants to make 2013 the year they get a fresh start on the future, said Andre Washington, Gateway dean of enrollment services. Plus, an eight-week session starts March 18. We are accepting students for both sessions.

With tuition of $140 per credit hour, Gateway is the affordable pathway to a high paying career or completing the first two years of a four-year degree, Washington added. Our credits transfer, enabling students to save 50 percent of the cost of a four-year degree at any public university in Kentucky.

Gateway's online classes enable students to attend college anytime, anywhere. A complete list of these classes can be downloaded at www.gateway.kctcs.edu/Academics under the Class Schedules menu.

Gateway offers a wide variety of majors that prepare students for high-wage, high-demand jobs in currently hiring industries, such as manufacturing, information technology, business and emerging new fields in health care. Financial aid is available, and Gateway provides help with the application process. Classes are offered at Gateway campuses in Covington, Edgewood and Florence and at the Urban Center in downtown Covington.

New programs available for the first time this semester include Pharmacy Technology and Instructional Design and Learning Technology. Gateway also is offering a broader selection of credentials in Computer and Information Technology.

In addition, a federal Health Professions Opportunity Grant offers tuition assistance and other benefits to low-income individuals interested in pursuing certain allied health careers. For more information on HPOG eligibility and careers, email gw-hpogemail@kctcs.edu.

We believe the quality and variety of our programs, our affordable tuition and the success services we offer our students make us the best path to a college education or the job market in Northern Kentucky, Washington said. But you don't have to be a Kentucky resident to attend, and most tri-state residents can attend for our affordable in-state tuition.

Gateway accepts students who have graduated from high school, who have earned a high school general equivalency diploma (GED), who are eligible to pursue a GED, who want to transfer from another college, or who are dually enrolled in high school and Gateway.
