
Hispanic Health Fair to be Held in Erlanger Oct. 17
For the 11th year in a row, the North Central Area Health Education Center (NC AHEC) will be hosting a Hispanic Health Fair for the large Hispanic/Latino population of northern Kentucky. This years fair will be held at the Marydale Catholic Center in Erlanger on Sunday, October 17, from 1- 4pm. The health fair is held in collaboration with the Centro de Amistad and Cristo Rey, the Hispanic parish in Erlanger. Over 300 participants are expected at the health fair.The health fair will feature free screening tests for diabetes and high cholesterol, as well as blood pressure, dental, vision and hearing screening. Mammograms, pap smears, and confidential HIV/AIDS testing will also be available. All testing services are free of charge and open to anyone. Flu shots will be provided by the Northern Kentucky Independent Health Department for $25. Information booths and displays will offer a wide variety of information about health topics and community services.
All services will be provided in Spanish and English. Many bilingual health care providers will be present to answer questions about health and offer information about local services. A variety of community groups and organizations will provide the services. St. Elizabeth Healthcare will perform the mammograms; local volunteer dentists are providing the dental screening; and the Erlanger and Covington-Kenton County Lions Clubs are providing vision testing. Over 100 health professionals and others will volunteer at the health fair.
