Hasan Davis Highlights Gateway Super Sunday All-Inclusive Recruiting Fair Feb. 24
Hasan Davis, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice and a performer/youth advocate, will be featured at the third annual Super Sunday recruiting fair hosted by Gateway Community & Technical College Feb. 24.
Davis, who is also a motivational speaker, will reenact the experience of York, a slave who accompanied William Clark and Meriwether Lewis on their historic expedition to explore the American West.
Super Sunday is a free event that will occur Sunday, Feb. 24, beginning at 1 p.m. at Gateway's Urban Center at 525 Scott Blvd. Covington. The event is open to the public and is co-hosted by the Ninth Street Baptist Church of Covington.
Super Sunday has become an annual opportunity for Gateway to reinforce to all students
that a quality education is the best preparation for a good job, said Gateway President
and CEO Ed Hughes.
The event is part of a statewide outreach by the Kentucky Community and Technical
College System to attract more students of all backgrounds to attend KCTCS colleges.
Studies have shown that most of today's jobs require at least an associate degree, said Dr. Hughes. We want all students to know that, yes, college is within their reach and that a college credential is what will lead them to a high-paying job in a career field that is currently in demand.
I am particularly pleased to welcome the community to the colleges Urban Center, which continues to expand and make college more accessible to urban students, said Rev. Richard Fowler, vice chair of the Gateway board of directors.
The recruiting fair will feature information on admissions, financial aid, academic programs, student success services, disability services, and a Health Profession Opportunity Grant that provides tuition assistance to low-income students interested in healthcare careers. Information on student employment opportunities accessible through the Ready to Work and Work and Learn programs also will be available.
In addition to recruitment information, the fair features refreshments and the performance
by Hasan Davis.
