Gateway's Amy Monson Honored by KACE

Amy Monson, coordinator of career services at Gateway Community & Technical College in Northern Kentucky, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Kentucky Association of Colleges and Employers (KACE).

Monson was honored for her service as KACE treasurer for the past five years and for her strong contributions to KACE from service on various boards and committees over the past 20 years. KACE is a statewide non-profit organization that brings together students, educators and employers who have an interest in integrating student academics with work experience and career development.

As coordinator of career services at Gateway, Monson builds relationships with local employers, offers career counseling and job placement assistance to students, and helps place students in internships and cooperative education positions. She has served as student adviser to the colleges chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa international academic honorary since the chapters inception in April 2008 and was instrumental in creating it.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky and Northern Kentucky University, Monson has served the students at Gateway for the past 24 years. She serves on the board of the Northern Kentucky chapter of Habitat for Humanity and frequently travels to other countries to volunteer her efforts toward mission work.

Were really proud of Amys service and accomplishments, said Ed Hughes, Gateway president/CEO. She is a great example of the dedication our staff and faculty have for our students and the community.
