
Gateway Welcomes Lt. Governor at Raise the Floor Kick-off
Gateway Community & Technical College welcomes Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton as the keynote speaker for the 2016-17 Raise the Floor program kick-off on Aug. 26 from 9-10:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Boone Campus, 500 Technology Way, Florence, in the Convening Center, room B123.We are excited to be working alongside Lt. Governor Hampton and workforce to bring more training and opportunities for high wage, high demand jobs to our community, said Dr. Fernando Figueroa, president/CEO Gateway Community amp; Technical College. It is a privilege to play a role in providing access to great careers and in improving the quality of life for women and their families.

Governor speak during our kickoff event, said Laura Lyons, president of ATech Training, Inc. and founding member and chair of the Raise the Floor Advisory Board. She understands manufacturing and the challenges of getting more women into these positions. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to share the successes of our community coming together to address these issues."
At the event, Lt. Governor Hampton will speak about her distinguished career in advanced manufacturing and share her perspective on the importance of manufacturing to the economic well-being of Kentucky. There will also be a panel discussion with current Gateway students in the Raise the Floor program and Gateway's industry partners.
Following the program at 10:45, Lt. Governor Hampton will tour the ATech Training facility and have an opportunity to speak to employees and students. The tour is not open to the public, but media is welcome.
Raise the Floor recruits, trains, places and supports women in advanced manufacturing careers. Since its inception in 2014, the program has placed approximately 40 women in advanced manufacturing careers in northern Kentucky.
