Gateway Urban Campus: Covington Roadwork NewsRoadwork Update: Southern and Latonia Avenues
The City of Covington has hired Eaton Asphalt to completely reconstruct Latonia Avenue from Madison Avenue up to Southern Avenue and Southern Avenue from Latonia Avenue to Grace Street. Work will include full depth reconstruction, curb replacement, the installation of new underdrains to collect groundwater, and the installation and replacement of catch basins.
The total cost of the improvements is approximately $950,000. Eaton Asphalt has begun detouring traffic so that work can begin and all work should be completed in November 2013. During construction, residents and visitors will experience typical construction conditions, meaning that the road will remain open throughout construction. There are two phases to the work and traffic will only be one way toward Madison during the first phase. Two way traffic will be restored during phase two. Access to driveways will be maintained throughout construction, but there will be times where on street parking is restricted and only one lane of traffic is maintained. Signs will be installed to direct traffic around the work zone.
