Gateway To Graduate More Than 900 Students Today

Gateway Community & Technical College will confer 1,682 credentials upon 911 graduates at the colleges 13th annual commencement ceremony today at 7 p.m. at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center here.

Tonight is the culmination of years of work on the part of students, as well as our faculty and staff who provide instruction and support services, said Dr. G. Edward Hughes, Gateway president and CEO. Since its inception in 2001, the college has conferred more than 10,000 degrees, diplomas and certificates to graduates. We are pleased to welcome the class of 2014 as new Gateway alumni.

The ceremony will feature the presentation of the annual Student Choice Awards to outstanding faculty and staff nominated and selected by students, and the Presidents Award to the years most outstanding graduate. The college also will announce faculty and staff New Horizon nominees for statewide recognition by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

As part of the ceremony, Kentucky Adult Education, facilitated in four local counties by Gateway, will confer GEDs upon 315 people who have successfully completed the requirements for a general equivalency diploma.

Gateway credentials to be awarded include associate in arts, associate in science, and associate in applied science degrees, plus technical diplomas and certificates. Many graduates receive more than one credential.
