Gateway Students Have Easier Transfer to Georgetown College

Gateway Community & Technical College students have an easier transfer route to Georgetown College thanks to a new memorandum of agreement between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the Georgetown, Ky., liberal arts college.

The agreement allows for Gateway graduates who have earned an associate in arts degree to transfer to bachelors programs at Georgetown College. Programs include: art, business administration, communication and media studies, economics, English, exercise science, health science, history, mathematics, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, Spanish, theatre, and religion.

This agreement moves us closer to our goal of providing KCTCS students with seamless pathways to getting a baccalaureate degree, said KCTCS President Michael B. McCall. We are extremely proud of our partnership with Georgetown College and believe it will increase student access and success.

Students seeking admission to Georgetown need to apply through the Office of Admissions and complete the following steps: (1) complete and return the application for admission (the application fee is waived for Gateway and other KCTCS students and graduates, (2) submit an official high school or GED transcript, and (3) submit official copies of transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attended. Additionally, to be considered for admission as a transfer student, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for all classes taken.

Completing an associate degree at Gateway and then transferring enables students to save thousands of dollars on tuition. Gateway tuition is roughly half the cost of any public university in Kentucky. Gateway is currently enrolling students for the spring term that begins March 18 and will conduct an open registration fair Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Edgewood Campus, 790 Thomas More Parkway.
