Gateway Students Earn Recognition For Excellence In Visual Communication

Three students at Gateway Community & Technical College have been recognized by the college for excellence in visual communication. They were among nine students whose work was displayed April 28 in the schools annual Senior Portfolio Show.

"Many of the exhibitors displayed professional quality work, including packaging, advertising design, and brand identity projects that won prestigious Gold and Silver Addys earlier this spring in competition at the Cincinnati Ad Club, said Toni Bloom, associate professor and chair of Gateway's Business and Management Services Division. We have had a very talented group of students this year.

Winners of the internal Gateway awards include Mollie Neff, a second-year student from Independence, who won first place for her portfolio that included an internal marketing campaign for a bank, a corporate identity system, package design, book jacket, an ad campaign and personal stationery. She previously won a Gold Addy for her stationery package for the fictional Sprouts account and a Silver award for a self-portrait illustration entitled Create Yourself.

Chris Larmouth, a second-year student from Covington, won second place for his portfolio of work that ranged from digital illustration to advertising and package design.

The third place winner was Sierra Sebastian, a second-year student from Newport. Her variety of work included Illustration, branding and editorial design.

Neff, Larmouth and Sebastian will receive their awards May 17 at Gateway's annual Night of Excellence awards convocation at 7 p.m. at Notre Dame Academy, Park Hills.
