Gateway Student Elected to KCTCS Board of Regents
Gateway Community & Technical College student Suzanne Tasayco of Covington has been
elected as one of only two students from the state to serve as a student representative
on the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents for 2013-14.
She was also elected as one of the KCTCS student body co-presidents.
Tasayco is the current president of the Gateway Student Government Association. The
SGA presidents from each college meet annually to elect two student regents from their
midst, said Ed Hughes, Gateway president and chief executive officer. We are delighted
that Suzanne's leadership qualities were so apparent to her peers. She is an outstanding
example of the caliber of our students.
Tasayco will serve a one-year term as student regent. She is pursuing an associate
degree in education at Gateway and plans to transfer to a four-year college to obtain
a bachelors degree in the same field. In addition to serving as Gateway SGA president
for 2013-14, Tasayco is vice president of fellowship for the colleges Phi Theta Kappa
academic honorary and is a member of the Gateway Judicial Board. She is also active
in church activities and is a student worker in the colleges Financial Aid office.
Berniece Combs of London, Ky., a student at Somerset Community College, also was
elected to serve a one-year term on the Board of Regents.
