Gateway Offers New Supply Chain Program

Gateway Community & Technical College announced today a new Supply Chain Management Program to be offered fall 2015.

Situated as a prime national location for transportation, the local logistics industry is in a state of perpetual growth, providing over 70,000 jobs in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky annually.

To fill these high-demand, high-wage jobs, Gateway Community & Technical College partnered with logistics industry leaders to design courses preparing students to earn certificates, such as Supply Chain Specialist, Logistics Quality Technician and Logistics Operations, as well as an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree, allowing entry into a logistics career at many points.

Over the past eighteen months, logistics industry leaders have worked with Gateway to bring the Supply Chain Management program to our region, said Christi Dover, Workforce Learning Systems Manager. The associate degree and three embedded certificates were designed by employers to maximize workplace applicability and fill their employment pipeline. We are excited to offer our students and the community this entry point into a career path with global opportunity.

Logistics is not a business of simply picking and packing products for minimal hourly wages; it is an interconnected and high-tech supply chain with many opportunities for viable, lifetime careers, especially in Northern Kentucky.

Increasingly recognized as a major stimulant to trade and business efficiency, the logistics sector is primed for continued growth with excellent career potential and advancement opportunity across all job functions, said Chris Reinersman, Talent Acquisition Specialist at DHL Express, USA.
