Gateway Implements New Student Printing Program
Gateway Community & Technical College is implementing a new Student Printing Program
effective Aug. 19. Students will be able to print 100 free black and white pages per
semester, which is a $10 value. After those pages (prints) have been used, students
will be able to purchase additional pages of printing at the local campus business
office.
Campus business office locations are: Boone CAM B01, Covington Front Office A103,
Edgewood Business Office SSC E202, and Urban Center Front Office 105. Campus business
offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The cost per page is 10 cents per black and white print (page), and the minimum purchase
for additional pages is $5 payable in cash only. Unused prints will be forfeited on
the last day of each semester, regardless of whether the prints were free or purchased.
Papercut software runs on every student computer and keeps track of printing based
on who is logged on to the computer. Each time a student prints a document, a popup
box will appear telling the student how many pages remain in his/her account. Signs
will be placed at every printer used by students reminding them of how to purchase
additional pages if needed.
We are implementing this program as part of our Sustainability Program to cut down
on wasteful printing, said Mike Baker, vice president of business and administrative
services. The program is intended to provide students free access to printing for
required assignments up to 100 pages and enable them to purchase additional pages
if needed.
