Gateway Conducts Manufacturing Career Tours for HS Students

Gateway Community & Technical College, Mazak, Gallatin Steel and Kenton County Schools are collaborating to provide half-day training and career area demonstrations and tours to Kenton County high school students to give the students a better understanding of career opportunities available in advanced manufacturing and energy technology.

Approximately 30 students from Dixie Heights High School will visit Gateway Nov. 4 for a morning of hands-on demonstrations and will travel to Mazak Corp. for lunch and an on-site tour. This is the third in a series of information sessions Gateway is conducting to increase awareness of manufacturing and energy careers as part of an ongoing effort to fill manufacturers needs for highly skilled workers. Students from Scott and Simon Kenton high schools visited the college in October. Gateway plans to expand the event to other school districts in the future.
