Gateway Community & Technical College Offers SHRM Human Resource Certification Prep Course
Gateway Community & Technical College, through its Workforce Solutions Division, is
offering the SHRM Learning System Course. The human resources professional training
program begins Feb. 2 and will be taught at the colleges Boone Campus, 500 Technology
Way, Florence.
The SHRM Learning System Course offers an in-depth overview of key areas in human
resource management. Materials include six modules that correspond to the six functional
areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge as defined by the Human Resource
Certification Institute (HRCI).
Besides being a powerful tool to assist participants in preparing for the PHR or SPHR
certification exams, the SHRM Learning System Course also provides professional development
for HR departments, said Phil Accardi, director of Gateway's Center for Workforce
Development. The course provides a solid foundation for managing the HR challenges
found in today's demanding work environment. The class supplies a current reference
of HR practices, broadens the perspective of functional specialists, and strengthens
individual competencies and productivity.
Instructors in Gateway's program are PHR or SPHR certified, have extensive work experience
as human resource professionals, and bring practical expertise into the classroom,
giving participants an invaluable perspective on the professional world.
The SHRM Learning System Course will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from Feb. 2 through
