Gateway announces launch of Workforce Solutions

Gateway Community & Technical College announced today the launch of Gateway Workforce Solutions, a restructuring and new name for its workforce training and community education division.

The new Gateway Workforce Solutions will blend the colleges existing offerings with expanded training services. Workforce Solutions is a response to conversations we have had with business leaders regarding their need, how we can serve that need and better communicate what we offer at Gateway, said Carissa Schutzman, vice president of Gateway Workforce Solutions. We are building on a commitment to excellence established by Gateway's Workforce Solutions.

Gateway Community & Technical College is well positioned to be a pathway to opportunity administrators told over 80 business and community representatives at the 8 a.m. announcement at the Boone Campus.

Interim President Dr. Keith Bird addressed the gathering and confirmed his commitment to serving the business community. "We are going to the next level. We will be asking questions and listening, Dr. Bird said. I look forward to working with all of you."

Bill Tuttle, vice president of human resources for Zumbiel Packaging in Northern Kentucky, believes the changes will build on Zumbiels relationship with Gateway for workforce training. Gateway is a partner and played a big part in helping us get where we are today, Tuttle said. We look forward to continuing our work with Workforce Solutions.

Workforce Solutions offers four main areas of service to business and the community: continuing education, online learning, testing services and workforce solutions. Enhanced service in these areas includes business consulting, training needs analysis, comprehensive, long-term training strategies and Return on Investment (ROI) measurement for companies.

New Associate Vice President of Gateway Workforce Solutions Jerrod Young brings extensive experience in manufacturing, engineering and education and will work to expand credit and noncredit offerings. Ive put on my seatbelt. Im buckled up and ready for the challenge, Young said. I look forward to bringing my experience with manufacturing to serving the business community through Gateway Workforce Solutions.
