Feb. 23 Session Provides Information On New Gateway-NKU Transition Center
Gateway Community & Technical College will conduct a free information session about the Gateway to NKU Transition Center Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. at Gateway's Edgewood Campus, 790 Thomas More Parkway.
The Gateway to NKU Transition Center enables students to complete 12 credit hours of classes, including six hours of college readiness courses, on the Northern Kentucky University campus but at Gateway's lower tuition rate. The center replaces the NKU Academy formerly available to students desiring to enroll at NKU but who had developmental needs. NKU announced in December it is discontinuing the NKU Academy.
The Gateway to NKU Transition Center offers several advantages to prospective NKU students besides the lower tuition cost, said Teri VonHandorf, Gateway associate provost. Transition center classes will be offered on NKUs campus, enabling students to become familiar with NKU and some of its key services such as the Albright Health Center, the Steely Library, the student union and tutoring services.
At the same time, transition center students will benefit from a smaller learning
environment, as well as academic and personal support services, VonHandorf added.
The Gateway to NKU Transition Center will begin offering classes with the Fall 2011
semester. The Feb. 23 information session will provide additional information to prospective
students. To reserve a spot at the session, contact the Gateway admissions office
at (859) 442-1134. The information session will take place in Room 208 of the Nursing
and Allied Health Sciences Building at Gateway's Edgewood Campus.
