Enroll Now to Start at Gateway in January

Gateway Community & Technical College is currently enrolling students for its spring semester that begins Jan. 9, 2012. Gateway offers career and transfer education in 30 different career fields. Students can be job-ready in as few as eight weeks, depending on their major.

There are a lot of good reasons to go to Gateway, according to Andre Washington, dean of enrollment services. But he cautions that the time to act is now. People shouldn't wait until New Years Day to make their new years resolution, because classes are filling up fast. People interested in starting in January should call today to reserve space in class.

Washington lists starting over as one of the key reasons to start at Gateway. Gateway is a great way to close the skills gap and qualify for good jobs that are available right now in high-demand, high-wage fields for people who have the right skills, Washington says. For example, regional manufacturers urgently need people with the kind of advanced manufacturing skills we teach at Gateway.

In addition, we are actively recruiting low-income students who are interested in healthcare careers. Gateway has a federal grant from the Department of Health and Human Services that provides tuition assistance and other benefits, such as child care, to qualifying students who select a major in certain healthcare fields, he explains.

We also have a variety of new programs beginning in January personal trainer, health information technology, phlebotomy, and paramedic technology. There's something for everyone, Washington says.

Gateway offers assistance in applying for financial aid, plus we have a variety of scholarships available. In addition, we offer a host of services specifically designed to help students succeed in school. We also provide career placement and transfer services to help our graduates find a job or transfer for a four-year degree, he adds.

Starting the application/enrollment process is as easy as calling the Admissions Office at (859) 442-1134 or visiting http://www.gateway.kctcs.edu/Admissions.

We offer lots of opportunity, he concludes. All people need to do is make the call but they need to do it today.
