Dr. Angie Taylor Receives Margaret Fifer Award from Covington Partners in Prevention

Dr. Angie Taylor, vice president of Workforce Solutions at Gateway Community & Technical College, recently received the first-ever Margaret Fifer Award from the Covington Partners in Prevention coalition.

Covington Partners in Prevention established the award last fall to honor one coalition member annually for special service to the community and its children.

The new award honors the spirit and love of Margaret Fifer, who daily goes above and beyond to serve her community. She has touched all of our hearts, said Janice Wilkerson, executive director of Student Support Services for Covington Independent Public Schools, a coalition member. Whether Dr. Taylor is representing Gateway, Welcome House or Covington Partners in Prevention, she too has devoted herself to children, providing what she can on a daily basis, just like Margaret Fifer.

Dr. Taylor was a founding coalition member in 1999 and a founding board member in 2004. She served as chair of the Partners in Prevention board of directors from 2007 to 2009. As chair, she led the initiative to develop Covington Partners in Prevention into a clearinghouse for all volunteers and partnerships in CIPS. She also spearheaded strategic planning and was instrumental in gaining endorsements from such community partners as STRIVE and Vision 2015.

Dr. Taylors primary work at Gateway entails building community networks of various employers, agencies, secondary schools and post-secondary institutions to create new avenues of service to enhance adult preparation for college and work. Dr. Taylor also serves as the advisor of the Entrepreneurial Learning College Team and is the facilitator for Gateway's Leadership Enrichment and Development Program. Past honors include the Kentucky Community and Technical College New Horizons State Award of Excellence, 2003; Northern Kentucky Woman of the Year, 2002; Leadership Kentucky Member, 2002; and the KCTCS Presidents Leadership Seminar Class, 2003.
