Community Forums Seek Input on Gateway Urban Campus

Gateway Community & Technical College officials will participate in a series of community forums Dec. 1, 2 and 9 in Newport, Bellevue and Dayton, Ky., to gather urban community input about the colleges proposal to create an Urban Campus in downtown Covington.

All forums will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Newport forum will be Dec. 1 at the World Peace Bell, 425 York Street; the Bellevue session will be Dec. 2 at the City Building, Callahan Center, 616 Poplar Street; and the Dayton discussion will be Dec. 9 at the Jack Moreland Board of Education Building at 200 Clay Street.

All forums are open to the public. Sessions are sponsored by Southbank Partners and facilitated by the Center for Great Neighborhoods and Vision 2015. Refreshments will be provided by the Gateway Foundation.

"We are in the planning stages for the Urban Campus and are seeking input on the kinds of programs and services residents, business and community leaders desire to see included in the planning for the campus. The campus is a long term commitment so our planning must encompass short term and long range issues, said Gateway President/CEO G. Edward Hughes.

The Urban Campus partnership includes Gateway, the Covington Independent Public Schools, Kenton County Public Library, the Gateway Foundation, City of Covington, Covington Business Council, Kenton County Fiscal Court and Southbank Partners, TANK and Kenton County.
