
Gateway speech team hosts tournament

Gateway Community & Technical College speech team hosted an International Public Debate Association (IPDA) tournament December 7 and 8. Gateway hosted teams from Transylvania University, Boyce College, and Jefferson State Community College of Alabama.
From the four participating schools, 12 students compete in the tournament. There were six preliminary rounds with the top four competitors advancing to semifinals. One student from each school advanced to the semi-finals. Gateway team member Noah Braden won the tournament defeating a student from JSCC in the final round on a 3-0 decision. Braden went 5-1 in the preliminary rounds.
