Gateway receives $6,000 gift from Give Where You Live NKY
Published on Jun 25, 2019
On Thursday, June 20, Gateway Community & Technical College Foundation received the second Give Where You Live NKY grant for $6,000.
Give Where You Live NKY hosts four quarterly meetings throughout the year. During the meetings, three nonprofits are randomly selected and briefly discussed by the group. The attendees vote on their favorite of the three organizations, and each person in attendance writes a check for $100 for the grant to the winning organization.
Gateway plans to use the funds to assist in offering free childcare for students. Childcare has been identified as a significant need for Gateway students. This partnership program with Children, Inc., is in response to this community need and Gateway’s commitment to removing barriers for students. For the fall 2019 semester, childcare will be offered to students taking daytime courses.
"For every $100 gift coming through Give Where You Live NKY, we are able to make a substantial impact in the lives of children whose parents are students at Gateway Community & Technical College," said Toni Bloom Mueller, donor relations coordinator at Gateway. "This meeting’s $6,000 gift will ensure that these children will receive the highest quality care through our partnership with Children, Inc."
Give Where You Live NKY is a joint initiative presented by Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky and Mueller Financial, Inc., and its format lends itself to busy community members who are looking for an easy way to give back to nonprofits that serve Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties.
“This was another fast, fun-filled gathering that resulted in thousands of dollars for a nonprofit serving Northern Kentucky,” said Horizon Community Funds President Nancy Grayson. “We look forward to seeing what the Gateway Foundation is able to do with our second quarter grant.”
