Gateway offers free childcare for students
Published on Jan 28, 2019
Gateway Community & Technical College and Children, Inc., are offering a pilot childcare program for Gateway students this spring semester. This pilot program is held Monday – Thursday, from 4:45 – 9:15 p.m., at Gateway’s Edgewood campus.
Childcare has been identified as a significant need for Gateway students. This partnership program with Children, Inc., is in response to this community need and Gateway’s commitment to removing barriers for students.
“This pilot program is designed to test the concept of evening and drop-in childcare to a specific group of students,” said Dr. Fernando Figueroa, Gateway president/CEO. “We will learn several important pieces of information that will help us determine the feasibility of scaling this project on a larger scale.”
Students taking evening classes at any of Gateway’s three campuses are able to utilize this childcare program offered at the Edgewood campus. Student must apply to be in the program, and be in good academic and financial aid standing.
