Gateway to host speed painting competition at Braxton to raise money for students
Gateway Community & Technical College Foundation is hosting Art Attack, a speed painting competition, to raise money for the student success emergency fund. Art Attack will take place June 18, from 6 – 8 p.m., at the Loft at Braxton Brewing in Covington.
Art Attack is a timed painting competition, run in two semi-final rounds and a final round. Eight talented artists will compete in the high-energy rounds, backed by music and a cheering crowd, each seeking to be crowned Art Attack champion. Artists will be given a theme and have 20 minutes to interpret that theme into an 18x24 acrylic painting.
Artists include William Dickson, Monica Green, Matt Grote, Jill Morenz, Chris Dye, Amy Schwarber and Teri Rivera. There is one spot open for an additional artist. Please contact Toni Bloom Mueller for information toni.bloom@kctcs.edu
The event will conclude with a live auction of all 12 paintings, each to be sold to the highest bidder. All proceeds from the live auction will go to the Gateway Foundation student emergency fund.
The student success emergency fund was developed to help students overcome financial barriers that put them at risk of dropping out of school. 84% of students who accessed the student success emergency fund in fall of 2017 were able to continue their education in spring of 2018.
There will be light snacks provided and beer for purchase. Please note that the Loft is only accessible via stairs.
