Gateway launches Legal Nurse Consultant certificate for Fall 2026

Published on Feb 17, 2026

Registered Nurses looking to expand their career options can leverage their clinical expertise in the legal field through Gateway’s Legal Nurse Consultant course. Legal Nurse Consultants work with attorneys, insurance companies, healthcare organizations, and government agencies to review medical records, prepare chronologies and case summaries, identify standards-of-care issues, support expert witness preparation, and assist with litigation strategy. Many RNs pursue this pathway for flexible contract work or full-time roles with law offices and consulting firms, applying their nursing knowledge in a new professional context.

Gateway’s PGL 250: Legal Nurse Consultant (3 credit hours) is offered virtually in an 8-week accelerated format and is designed specifically for currently licensed Registered Nurses. The course prepares nurses to analyze medical-legal cases, advise legal teams, and serve as expert witnesses when appropriate.
