Gateway Welcomes Three Distinguished Leaders to Board of Directors

new board members gctcGateway Community & Technical College is pleased to announce the appointment of three accomplished leaders to its Board of Directors: Rachel Roberts, Catrena Bowman, and George Taylor. 

Each brings extensive professional expertise and a strong commitment to advancing education, workforce development, and community impact across Northern Kentucky.

Gateway President Fernando Figueroa welcomed the new members, stating, “We are honored to welcome Rachel, Catrena, and George to Gateway’s Board of Directors. Each brings exceptional leadership experience and a deep understanding of the needs of our region. Their insight and commitment to community advancement will strengthen our mission and help ensure Gateway continues to transform lives through education.”

Rachel Roberts

Rachel Roberts is a Kentucky entrepreneur and public policy leader with deep ties to Northern Kentucky. She currently serves as executive director of a nonprofit business association and previously represented Northern Kentucky in the Kentucky House of Representatives.

Roberts has experience building organizations from the ground up and is a strong advocate for education-to-career pathways that support entrepreneurship and workforce development.

“Gateway plays a critical role in preparing individuals for meaningful careers and supporting small businesses that fuel our regional economy,” Roberts said. “I am honored to serve on the Board and look forward to advancing innovative pathways that connect education, entrepreneurship, and workforce opportunity.”

Catrena Bowman, MPA

Catrena Bowman serves as Executive Director of the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission, where she leads initiatives that empower families and strengthen communities through advocacy, opportunity, and direct services. She is also a leadership coach and founder of Inspired Leadership, supporting women in building confidence, influence, and leadership capacity.

A multi-passionate entrepreneur, Bowman owns Inspired Fashion, a boutique that blends faith, fashion, and empowerment. She is an active member of Fresh Anointing Impact Church and serves in the Women’s Ministry.

Bowman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and a Master’s degree in Public Administration and has been recognized for her leadership, innovation, and community impact.

“Gateway is a cornerstone of opportunity in Northern Kentucky,” Bowman said. “I am excited to contribute to the Board’s work in expanding access, strengthening families through education, and ensuring every learner has the support needed to succeed.”

George Taylor

George Taylor brings more than two decades of leadership experience in operations, engineering, and organizational development. He currently serves as Vice President of Operations at ElectraMet, where he helps build scalable systems, develop teams, and guide organizations through periods of growth and change.

Throughout his career, Taylor has held senior leadership roles across manufacturing and technology-driven organizations, including Chief Operating Officer and General Manager positions with responsibility for strategy, people development, and financial stewardship. He has led large cross-functional teams, overseen significant capital investments, and collaborated with domestic and international partners to strengthen operational performance and long-term sustainability.

Known for his people-first, data-informed approach to leadership, Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and has completed multiple executive leadership and management programs.

“Gateway’s mission aligns closely with my belief in building strong systems that empower people to grow and succeed,” Taylor said. “I look forward to supporting the Board’s strategic oversight and ensuring the college continues to deliver lasting impact for students and employers alike.”

The Gateway Board of Directors provides governance and strategic oversight for the college, supporting its mission to deliver accessible, high-quality education and workforce training throughout Northern Kentucky.
