VonLehman Establishes Advanced Manufacturing Scholarship for Gateway Students

VonLehman Company, an accounting, tax and advisory firm with offices in Fort Mitchell, Ky., Cincinnati, and Indianapolis, has established a new scholarship for advanced manufacturing students at Gateway Community and Technical College.

As a forward-thinking company, VonLehman specializes in several industry sectors, and manufacturing and distribution is one of them, said Beth Vice, shareholder and a member of the firms manufacturing/distribution services committee. We believe in the future of advanced manufacturing in the region, and we recognize Gateway as a key provider of education and training to prepare people for advanced manufacturing careers. Were proud to support those efforts with this scholarship.

The VonLehman Scholarship in Advanced Manufacturing will be awarded on a semester-by-semester basis, beginning in Fall 2014 through the Spring 2016 semester. VonLehman subsequently may continue the scholarship.

To be eligible for the $750 per semester award, students must be enrolled full-time as an advanced manufacturing major and must have and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

The scholarship will support academically and technically strong students with career interest in advanced manufacturing, including mechatronics and engineering, Vice added. The scholarship will support students with expenses related to tuition, books and fees.

The first VonLehman Scholarship in Advanced Manufacturing will be announced at Partners for Industry breakfast co-sponsored by VonLehman and Gateway on Nov. 5 at 7:30 a.m. at the colleges Convening Center located in the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at the Boone Campus, 500 Technology Way, Florence, Ky.

The event will spotlight the state of manufacturing in Kentucky and Ohio, including updates on manufacturing trends, insights on business and financial issues unique to manufacturers and distributors, and perspectives on human resource issues specific to manufacturing. The college also will provide updates on Gateway programs designed for small- to medium-sized manufacturers.

The public is invited to attend at no charge. An optional tour of Gateway facilities will conclude the event. For more information or to register, visit www.vlcpa.com.
