Road Closure / Traffic Restriction: Madison Avenue at Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will be closing down Madison Avenue between 11th and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street beginning Monday, April 25, to accommodate the reconstruction of this part of the road. During this closure, the entire intersection of 11th and Madison will be closed. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street will be open to 2-way traffic between Madison and Scott Street and only the north side of the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street at Madison intersection will be blocked off. Motorists will still be able to travel East/West or South at the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street and Madison intersection. The contractor has 90 days to complete this work.

The state is placing message boards to provide some advance notification.

Detours:
Motorists wanting to travel north on Madison past Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street will be directed east on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street, north on Greenup, and west on Robbins. Motorists wanting to travel south on Madison will be directed east on Robbins, south on Scott, and west on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street.
11th Street will be closed off to through traffic from Russell to Scott. Motorists will be directed up to Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/12th Street to avoid the closure. A message board and detour signs will be set up at 11th and Greenup to try and notify the motorists that are heading west on 11th (from Newport) that want to go north on Madison that they will need to turn right at Greenup.
