Register Now for Gateway's Energy Auditor TrainingThe Workforce Solutions Division of Gateway Community & Technical College will offer a five-day course early next year to train people to become energy auditors.
Energy auditors are also known as green energy consultants, energy conservation representatives, certified building analysts or Energy Star consultants. The U.S. national average salary for an energy conservation representative is about $39,000 a year, according to CareerBuilder.com. Energy auditors may work for utility companies, building contractors, heating and air conditioning firms or similar companies.
The Gateway course prepares participants to take the Building Analyst Certification Exam through the Building Performance Institute. The course consists of classroom and hands-on instruction. Students will learn how to use a thermal imager, blower door and duct blaster to evaluate home performance.
The cost of the course is $1,450. Kentucky employers paying for an employee to take the course may be eligible for state funding to offset costs. Contact Barry Wilhite, 859-442-1145, email@example.com, for funding information.
The course will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Jan. 30 -Feb. 3, 2012, at the Covington Campus at 1025 Amsterdam Road. Class size is limited to 12 participants.
