Gateway To Announce New Career Training Initiative Aimed at Preparing Women for Manufacturing Careers

Gateway Community and Technical College will host a public forum Friday, Nov. 1, at 8 a.m. at its Boone Campus to announce a new career training initiative aimed at preparing women for manufacturing careers.

This is an exciting new outreach to help women get skills to qualify for high-paid, stable jobs in manufacturing and to help employers alleviate the manufacturing skills shortage, said Angie Taylor, vice president of Gateways Workforce Solutions and Innovation Division.

Full details of the new effort will be made public at the forum on Friday, which will be held at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Room B123.

We encourage secondary school officials, manufacturers, social service agencies and other community leaders to send representatives to learn more about how to participate in the program, Taylor said. Women who may be interested in pursuing a manufacturing career are also welcome to attend.

Gateways Boone Campus is located at 500 Technology Way, Florence.
