Gateway Offers Young Adult Mental Health Continuing Education Course

Gateway Community and Technical College will offer Mental Health Concerns of Young Adults, a course approved for continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Social Work. The course will be offered Friday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the colleges Edgewood Campus, 790 Thomas More Parkway.

Course topics include the prevalence of various mental health disorders among young people, warning signs of mental health problems, and risk factors that affect a young persons mental health and resiliency. The course will teach participants how to create an action plan for mental health assessment, to select and implement appropriate interventions, to help youth connect with appropriate resources, and to identify community resources available to address mental health problems.

The class will be conducted in Room 208 at the colleges Nursing and Allied Health Center. Kelly Lane, MA, PC, will present the course, which costs $45 per person.
