Personal Safety Requirements
Face Coverings
Effective August 4, 2021, employees, students, and visitors will be required to wear a mask inside all Gateway facilities, regardless of vaccination status. You should provide your own covering; the facility may have a mask available if you do not have your own.
Gateway encourages all who are not currently vaccinated to seek an appointment for vaccination. Find open appointments on the NKY Health Department’s website.
Proper Hygiene
For your safety, you should wash your hands frequently and/or use hand sanitizer after each equipment use. The facility will ensure that employees whose job duties include touching items often touched by others (e.g., credit cards/cash, paper, computers) wear gloves that are “regularly” replaced.
Health checks
If you have a fever and/or any symptoms of COVID-19, you should see your health care provider to be tested and then remain at home as soon as any illness is detected.
If any student reports a positive test or displays COVID-19 symptoms, faculty/staff are permitted to deny the student entry into the lab for completion of work. Should a student be unable to complete lab work due to COVID-19, faculty should work with the student to provide extensions on assignments.
Social Distancing
Continue to provide social distance and stand at a safe distance from people, particularly if they feel uncomfortable being close. Reconsider old customs such as shaking hands.
Social distancing is recommended in all classrooms, labs, shared offices, common spaces and other locations.
Signage has been posted at all facilities in the common areas such as bathrooms, cafes, lecture halls, classrooms, entrances, etc.
Follow CDC guidelines to stay safe and to keep others safe. You can find them here: When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated | CDC and Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People
Gateway encourages all who are not currently vaccinated to seek an appointment for vaccination. Find open appointments on the NKY Health Department’s website.
As we see each other again in person, keep in mind that each person reacts differently to being in public spaces again. Some will welcome the interactions, while others will be nervous and even anxious. We ask that you be kind, considerate, patient, and understanding of the different reactions each of us might have to this process.
