Devoted dad. Former Gateway student. Gateway instructor. Adam found his way to a high-demand manufacturing career and is advancing his career opportunities with a Gateway education.
I always knew a career in manufacturing would be the right path for me. After years of working different jobs and trying to find the right place, six years ago I finally landed my dream job and was hired at a large manufacturing company. I decided to enroll at Gateway and pursue a degree in Machine Tool Technology. I needed a college education to put myself ahead in life, but I could never seem to find the right fit. Through Gateway, I felt I would be able to get the hands-on experience and education that I needed to advance my career in manufacturing. Not only did Gateway offer the program I was interested in, but it was also much more affordable than any other college I attended, and the class times were convenient. With a family at home, and working 60 hours per week, I needed to take classes to fit my schedule. The professors and staff members are patient, truly care about their students and want to help them in any way they can.
Dee Wright, division chair for Manufacturing and Trades Technologies at Gateway, was extremely knowledgeable in his field and an outstanding professor. While I attended Gateway, I received an award for “Outstanding Manufacturing Student” and I was so proud. I’m not sure if I would have been able to achieve all that I have if it weren’t for the personal attention of the Gateway faculty and staff.
I completed an associate’s degree from Gateway in spring 2011 and just recently began teaching classes part-time at Gateway. It has been a joy to see students experience the same things I went through just a few years ago. The job market for manufacturing jobs is extremely strong. Enrolling at Gateway enhanced what I already knew and prepared me for career advancement opportunities in the future. I loved every aspect of my experience at Gateway. This is truly a great place to start your future and get the training you need for a lifelong career. I am more because of Gateway.
