Costs and Financial Aid

Ready to Work

The Ready to Work Program promotes the success of Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP) recipients who are currently enrolled at Gateway. The program is a collaborative between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. We also work closely with your KTAP Case Manager, located on the Covington campus, to assist with overcoming barriers to your self-sufficiency.

Ready to Work enables you gain work experience while earning up to $7.25 per hour at 20 hours per week. This income does not reduce your K-TAP income. The Ready to Work Program also assists with referrals to community resources, job placements that meet KTAP work component requirements, & job readiness training.

When you become a Ready to Work participant, we help you:

  • Assess career goals and choices
  • Complete the Department of Community Based Services Verification forms (enrollment, employment, housing, income, etc.)
  • Navigate the enrollment and financial aid process
  • Meet and network with peers
We can work with your K-TAP case manager to find funds for additional needs.
  • School supplies
  • Childcare
  • Interview attire

We can also provide school supplies such as paper, pens, and calculators.
