About

Meet Oliver

He already has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, but chose to pursue a more rewarding career and enrolled in the nursing program at Gateway.

Oliver's Story:

After completing my bachelor’s degree, I worked in restaurant management for many years. Helping and taking care of people has always come naturally to me. I felt that I could put my education, skills, and talents to better use while working as a nurse.

I shopped around for colleges, and I heard of the low tuition cost at Gateway, so I looked into it. I had already spent a lot of money on my first degree, and it was important to me to attend an affordable school. The tuition cost at Gateway is less than half of what I’ve paid at other colleges.
What I appreciate most about the nursing department at Gateway is the Nursing Resource Center. The NRC staff really seems dedicated to the success of students. Gateway instructors offer many strategies and tips for studying to optimize learning. They head up study groups weekly to supplement what is taught in the classroom. Gateway libraries also offer a good collection of nursing resources.

I am really impressed by Gateway’s modern facilities. Everything here is convenient, organized, and new. Study areas are located in well-lit spaces all around the campuses. Even the break areas seem to be conducive to learning, with numerous televisions and computer stations. I like that everything seems to have a purpose in contributing to the processes of teaching and learning at Gateway.

When I’m not working or studying, I like to spend time with my fiancée and her two boys. I am glad that I can set an example for them. They can witness the benefits of higher education firsthand and see what it takes to achieve goals in life. After completing my degree at Gateway, I plan to work as a nurse and ultimately achieve a bachelor’s degree from another university.
