Mike's Story:
Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a cop. It has always been my childhood dream. I looked around at different schools and actually ended up attending another college. I thought about tuition price and just how much I wanted to be involved in a serious Criminal Justice program, so I chose to transfer to Gateway.
The instructors at Gateway teach you from their personal experiences, and not just from the textbook. Gateway instructors really bring the subjects to life. The stories they tell and examples they provide are entirely correct. Everything that Tim Chesser, the Director of Safety and Security at Gateway, has told me would happen in the police world has happened. These instructors are extremely well informed and the level of education you gain from Gateway is extraordinary.
Everyone I’ve met at Gateway has been caring and shown genuine interest in the success of their students. Even if they don’t work in the department you’re interested in, all Gateway faculty and staff will send you to the right place and make sure you find what you’re looking for. It’s nice to know that the people you look up to are genuinely concerned about your future.
I graduate in May and I’m excited to have this degree. The college journey was not an easy one, but I’m proud that I stuck with it. Having a degree from Gateway will make me feel accomplished and more prepared for things I’ll face in the future.
