After finally finding the opportunity to go back to school, she’s created lifelong relationships with fellow classmates, and faculty members in the Cosmetology program at Gateway.
I’ve always been pretty artistic, and I’ve always known that cosmetology is something that I wanted to do. It just took me a little while to reach the best point in my life for going back to school. I looked into a few private cosmetology programs that were all extremely expensive and were run almost like a boot camp. With a toddler, I needed a school that was flexible and affordable. I found Gateway.
The main reason why I hadn’t enrolled in college earlier in life was because of the cost. I chose Gateway because of the affordable tuition and the financial aid help I could receive. I love that Gateway’s courses are flexible and convenient, as well. I can go to school, work, and still have a life. The instructors and students at Gateway were so friendly and really made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. Gateway was just a perfect fit for me, all around.
I truly love being a part of the Gateway community. I’ve never really had a big “go team” attitude, at least not until I came to Gateway. I’ve developed such incredible bonds with the women in the cosmetology program, and especially with my instructor Paula Brown. She has helped me through my classes, and has really prepared me for graduation and the transition into a salon.
It really surprised me just how much Gateway instructors care about what’s going on in your life. Gateway professors make sure they encourage us, point out our strong points, and help us overcome the things we struggle with.
I graduate next month and I know it’ll feel amazing but a little sad too. I know the relationships and connections I’ve created during my time at Gateway will last a lifetime. Enrolling at Gateway was the best decision I’ve ever made! I’m thankful that I now have the tools I need to turn my dreams into a career!
