Meet Brittany

Thanks to Gateway’s fully online courses, she can visit family in another state and still enjoy the benefits of being a Gateway student.

Brittany's Story:

My college experience is a unique one. Before deciding to enroll at Gateway, I had attended two different universities. They weren’t exactly the right fit for me. I felt a little overwhelmed; the campuses were large and I didn’t really get the personal feel I was looking for in a college. I had heard about Gateway from some friends; they loved it. After moving back home, I decided to look into it.

I felt a little overwhelmed; the campuses were large and I didn’t really get the personal feel I was looking for in a college. I had heard about Gateway from some friends; they loved it. After moving back home, I decided to look into it.

Now that I’m a Gateway student, I don’t want to leave. I have grown to love my professors and feel like they truly care about my success. I know I can turn to them with any problem, school related or not. Gateway has a cozy feeling of being at home. The smaller class sizes here really allow teachers to get to know you as an individual, not just as one of their students. I was surprised at how much I really love coming to my classes at Gateway.

I really excelled in my Criminal Justice courses, and one of my professors suggested that I become a Gateway tutor to my peers for this subject. To be honest, I wasn’t sure that I was tutor material. I work two jobs and have a full-time course load, but it all ended up working out. I love to help my peers, I love the subject I’m working with, and I’m really glad my professor encouraged me to pursue this. I love having the ability to help boost someone’s confidence and their grades.

I’ve still got some time before I graduate, but after leaving Gateway, I hope to enroll at a university with a major in the Criminal Justice field and a minor in something like Sociology or Psychology. I’m excited for my future and I really believe that everything happens for a reason, and I’m glad that I found my way to Gateway.
